Bounty Hunter Platinum

I don't post too much on the forums anymore because what I can offer or advise has been hashed over many, many times. I do respect the job the moderators do keeping their patience and answering the same questions over and over. With that said, I do have something to offer the people looking for a great detector at a good price. I have been in the market for a lightweight, responsive, and inexpensive backup detector. I wanted this detector for tot lot hunting and cherry picking the fairgrounds and ball field after events. I noticed the Platinum last year and it looked very similar to the Tek Gamma. After reading and looking at most of the posts and videos, I came to the conclusion that it was similar, but different in the ground balance and coil connections. Well, I bought one at a great price last week and have used it three times in three different places for a total of about ten hours. While assembling it, I thought the coil cable was a bit wimpy, but for a bargain basement price, I figured "what the heck" and gave it a go. I also had read that the ground grab was somewhat difficult and confusing, but it is extremely fast and easy. Within five minutes of turning the detector on, I found a nickel and copper memorial at six inches deep. Strong audio and dead on numberrs! The next target was the small back of a pin and it was only 3/8 of an inch in diameter. It had a strong medium tone and a locked on number of 66 to 68 which is just below zincs. I dug this target because it was slightly below zincers and I was curious. This tiny roung back was a solid 7 inches deep. I ended the first day with 50 coins and found the 2.2 pound detector to be just what I wanted, responsive and light. The next two hunts have showed the first day was no fluke. No silver yet, but 6 wheat pennies from two to seven inches deep in very trashy spots. I will confidently say the Platinum will hunt with most detectors costing over twice as much money. I am impressed!

I also like the Platinum, it's a good one for sure. I've done some Youtube videos with it, and a review. I've had some sarcastic comments, but the proof is in the pudding. I've found a bunch of old coins and silver with the Platinum. I purchased the 11 " DD coil and it really helped me out with depth and mineralized soil. It's hard to beat for the price and the push in connector is fine. I have an Omega and F75 with the screw on style, and in my opinion the push in is easier to use for a quick coil change. Never had a bit of trouble with the machine. It's not very well known, but may be one of the best values out there. I can't think of any other machine that has a ground balance feature, huge display, notch, disc, tone selection, and volume control in that price range.

I couldn't agree more. The Platinum is a great detector for coin shooting and finding medium to large jewelry. It doesn't have the versatility or coil selection of my DFX but it's light and gets the job done.

RLOH, it should pay for itself quickly. Have fun with it!:detecting:

Teknetics, Bounter Hunter and Fisher are all owned by the same company. That company is called First Texas Products. Besides the metal detecting companies, First Texas also owns the Night Owl night vision company.

On the lower end machine they seem to release each design under all three labels with some tweaks for each version. So for instance the BH Platinum is built on the same platform as the Teknetics Omerga and the Fisher F5. The high end machine are usually released under both the Teknetics and Fisher labels with the Fishers usually having a few more bells and whistles than the Teknetics versions of the same platform.

I have a T2 SE and a Delta and they are both well built machines that have great depth for their class of machine. I think the Delta is the best entry level machine on the market now and the T2 is the best relic hunter.
