Bounty Hunter Pinpointer

If anyone is interested Cabelas currently has the Bounty Hunter Pinpointer on sale online for $19.99(reg price $59.99).

Not absolutely essential but it makes it much easier finding small stuff and coins when in a pile of dirt. Often times coins and other stuff appear almost the same color as the dirt you are looking through. The Bounty Hunter pinpointer isn't near as good as the Garrett but for $20 vs $127($159 list) it does a fine job.

Looks like the sale is over as they are no longer listed on the Cabelas site.

If it's on sale for $20 bucks you have to ask why: is it a marketing ploy to get more customers
to buy; is it being replaced by a better BH pin pointer, or have there been to many complaints about
the product and they just want to onload it? I've never used the BH pinpointer so I have no opinion
but like another post said, for $20 bucks it's probably going to do the job. Cheap is a good price.
It's not going to do the job the Garrett Propointer does but it will get you through untill you can afford
a better one. Believe me, if you ever get a chance to use the Propointer you'll think your in heaven.

I own one of these...They are great "NO-Motion" detectors, and with a few modifications, can be made even better...The audio and buzzer are weak...There is no light, but these two things can be easily changed by anyone with electrical experience...The battery cap must be taped on if you do not wish to lose it...Mine will detect a dime 1 1/4" from the tip...A quarter at 2" from the tip...A Half Dollar at 2 1/2" from the tip...
I paid the 50 bucks for mine, so 20 is a steal...maybe they are discontinueing this item...would be nice to see Teknetics come out with a better pinpointer...

I have a Bounty Hunter PinPointer and cannot detect a quarter, penny, dime or quarter deeper than 1 inch.
The person above had a very special Pinpointer or modified it to increase the sensitivity.

My wife doesn't use one at all and gets her finds every time. I have become dependent on a pinpointer and won't detect without one. Even so, I often have to resort to my BH to relocate a target when my pinpointer won't pick it up. This tells me my wife is a much better pinpointer with her main detector than I am, even with my pinpointer! It also tells me you don't have to use a pinpointer, but it may help some people more than others.

Mine is an old Falcon with the probe encased in a 6" length of plastic plumbing pipe on a 3' or so cable. The electronics box clips to my belt. The wand is sturdy enough to dig with in loose soil or tot lots. I nail the target with my Time Ranger, then plow around using the wand. We don't dig lawns very often, but when we do, the probe can be inserted any reasonable depth by its cable, way beyond what my arm could reach to retrieve a target. It's quite sensitive to very small items, but is limited to about an inch or so from the probe. I paid $180 for mine, so as long as it works, that's what I'll be using, even if a "deal" shows up.

For the cost, grab one! It'll also help locate nails in your walls to help locate where to hang photos and stuff, maybe plumbing and wiring, too. Or to avoid sawing into a nail when re-using scrapwood, etc.
