this is my second pin pointer from bounty hunter. i really like them .a fresh battery and the vibration/sound is there when close to a target.what i'm not impressed with is the blanketty, blank tip keeps wearing out. what i'd like to see is a screw on/screw off tip when it wears out,you buy half a dozen with the pinpointer so you could replace them when needed.i don't think the retailer that sold me the original is going to come to the party and keep replacing them until the warranty runs out on the first one.which is only five months ago.at the moment the tip is four layers thick in epoxy resin and still wearing off.i also have a whites bulls eye 11 as a present for xmas, what a useless piece of junk as a back up.as for the other one has any one got any other solutions to keep it operational. i thought of ripping the woking parts out the old shell and putting them in a new more robust outer layer.what do you all think? blowfly see ya! hh

Well, when the cable on my Falcon came loose way inside the wand, I had to melt the hot glue out of it. They used a length of PVC water pipe and an end cap. Talk about heavy duty!

When I put it back together, I just put black electrical tape over the end, that lasted quite awhile, surprisingly.

Maybe try the hot glue instead of epoxy. It's really tough stuff and quicker 'n' cheaper than epoxy. But sure, no real reason why you couldn't make a new wand of your choosing. Maybe a few inches of poly tubing with some hot glue to plug the end would slip over the BH wand as another quick fix.

I use the one from HF also and love it. Have you thought of putting a rubber cap over the tip, not sure how big it its but something like the rubber sleeve off of a pair of cheap pliers, or maybe that stuff you dip it into and then let it dry into a thick flexible coating, just throwing some things off the top of my head out there.
