Bounty Hunter pin pointer

Does anyone know how to modify the Bounty Hunter pin pointer to get it to work better,

I have tried to and have had no luck in doing so. I have built pinpointers that get more than what that thing does. I do like it, don't get me wrong, it's not bad for a 30 dollar pinpointer, but like I said there is nothing to do to get anything more out of it. Oh wait, I lied, I did build a new "coil" for it, it did get a little better but not that much. So it's not really worth the time and money to build a new "coil" for it.

This is what the inside of a BH/Fischer pin-pointer looks like...and some air tests I did with it apart.
There is one pot lying flat on the board (DO NOT touch the other one), and it is to control SENSitivity...
you can mark the factory position of this with a fine tip perma-marker, then tweak it to try to get a few extra fractions of an inch...
You can desolder the LED and drill a hole in the case to mount it externally (the LED comes on with the buzzer sounding)
You can also go to Rat-Shack and get a louder (beefier) 6V buzzer (It looks the same as original, but is higher Decibel Rated)
A larger Buzzer or even LED will drain the battery quicker though (But it is worth it for the added audio and light for night hunting...
These are the only 2 mods I have done to this unit...OH!!! and you can add solder to the spots the coil is soldered to...glob it on...This seemed to add some distance, if only to give better conductivity to the coil???
Be mindful of the heat, as your dealing with small parts that can burn quickly...

And again, the voice of ignorance shows its ugly mug...
Some poeple just feel compelled I guess...

Have a good day,

Nice one Bill
I appreciate your humorous comment and I realize it was only made in jest
love a nice piece of general leg pulling jocularity

The BH pinpointer is quite fixed in its operation being a Hall Effect device and not a coil device.
I personally learned to pinpoint better and dispensed with carrying what amounted to being "dead weight" for me

all comments IMHOO

pity there is not a sense of humor detector on the market "hahahhahahhahahahhaha" please no replies to this comment hahahhaha
