Bounty Hunter Metal Detectors...Which one?

I am still new to this hobby. My wife bought me a bounty hunter quick silver. I didn't go out much last year and didn't go out until labor day weekend this year. Yesterday, I had my best day ever. 4 hours and many clad coins including 2 kennedy halves, 8 quarters, several pennies, 4 dimes and 1 1938 Merc in terrific condition.

My question to all you experienced folks is, which bounty hunter metal detector do you think is the best? I looked at their website and there doesn't seem to be an order. I am curious to know which bounty hunter detector is the top of the line, which is at the bottom and where does mine fall into place. As much as I got yesterday, I can't help but think I'm missing plenty.

Thanks everyone in advance for any input.

I like you have only been detecting about a year and dont know a lot but from what i can gather you have a good machine alot is just getting to know your machine.I have a QDII and it really surprises me with its capabilities. All in all get some experience then move up to a better machine. At least thats what the ol timers say on here. HH!!

The best Bounty Hunter is the one you take out hunting, have all tones memorized as to what they mean, know everything about, create great memories of fun finds and currently enjoy. I own a Pioneer 505 and I love it. Is it my only detector? No. Does it collect dust? No. Don't get caught up in the "thrill of the chase". There is no perfect detector. I don't know which BH is the top of the line. That is a difficult question to answer. Too many factors. This is just my humble opinion and I hope it helps you or somebody somehow. Happy Hunting. Matt

As far as a "top of the line" Bounty hunter goes the Time Ranger or Platinum (sold by Cabelas) would fit that description in cost, features, and maximum depth capability.....at least theoretically.

That said, matthias has it right. The best one is the one you hunt with. They all find metal in the ground. No detector, regardless of all the added features, can 100% accurately tell you what that metal is. You have to dig it out to really know what it is. What you think is a pull tab could be a gold ring. I found a gold wedding band in a coin spill. Glad I dug it but I thought it was junk judging by the signal on my Time Ranger. Made me wonder how many other goodies I passed up thinking they were junk metal. So, the lesson for me was to not rely too heavily on what the detector thinks is in the ground and use my own experience with that detector to decide what signals to dig.

Like trkdrvr36 said, get to know your machine and what it is telling you. And you will only gain that knowledge by digging all those repeatable signals and even a few of those iffy ones. Then if you feel you need some additional features or more depth for your type of hunting upgrade to a machine that meets your needs.

By the way, I think we all feel that we are leaving valuables in the ground after a hunt. That is what keeps us going back out!

Good luck and HH

Thanks for the input. Like I said, I still feel like I'm learning the machine, since I've been getting out regularly lately. On the beaches, I dig everything, inland, I usually discriminate against everything but coins...Keep on hunting.
