Bounty Hunter 505

Well i finally got my 505 today, i used it a little, found 65cents. It is really different than my Tracker IV, I am going to have to get used to it. Does anyone have the video that goes to the 505 that they would be willing to give up. Also if anyone has any tips for me with my new machine that would be helpful too. thanks.

Here are some YouTube vids using the Bounty Hunter machines

HH,

I don't' care for the dirt handling technique. They should be putting down a cloth upon which to pile the spoils so that the spoils can be returned to the hole without any being left on the surrounding lawn.

I am kinda guilty of not using a cloth too, but the ground here is wet most of the year, and it sticks together well on the plug...I use my lesche like a cleaver, and take off 1/4" slices of the bottom of the plug until I get near the target, then I use my fingers or a screw driver to pop it from the plug...I cut the dirt back into the hole, so most of the time, I leave nothing on the surrounding grass. if I do, i try to sweap it back into the hole with my gloved hand. I only wear a glove on my right hand most of the time. In my vids, you do see me using the towel when digging one hole that was dry dirt.

HH,

contact first texas they will send the video to you free in just afew days great people:clapping:

Yea i thought about that but there is no email contact that i have found yet. I hate the phone with a passion, don't know why just do. I'm a computer tech and talking on the phone is like dragging me over hot coals really slowly, god i hate tech work. but pays the bills sometimes. I think i will, today and then ask them if the warranty transfers over to me since he (where i got the new machine) just got it.

www.detecting.com i think gets you the # thats the way i went to get mine free and fast:detecting:

FT does not transfer warranties, original owner only.

I'd suggest you let yourself be dragged over hot coals.

A lot of detector manufacturers that otherwise have great customer service are known to be lax about answering emails in a timely manner.

You can say that's bad p.r. and I won't argue.

But instead of beating your head against the wall bite the bullet and give them a call. They're nice folks at First Texas. It won't hurt - really!

I agree with Marcomo. I have called First Texas twice to ask about which of the "regular" BH machines is closest to the ones sold by Big 5 Sporting Goods and each time, I got to speak to a technical person who gave me the low-down.

Not sure about that warranty thing...I am not the original owner of my machine, and they fixed it twice for free...???

HH,

Well, you must consider that it probably costs First Texas about $25-$30 to make their$200-$300 detectors and perhaps $50 to make their top of the line detectors. That gives them a hefty margin for R&D and customer services etc. I think the superb service FT provides is one of the reasons people buy their machines, that and the fact that they are exceptionally well designed and made helps also. PLUS, most are made in the USA!!!

One marketing aspect of FT's strategy that puzzles me is the fact that they tool-up to compete with themselves. I would think that the entire product line should consist of perhaps 5 machines total, however it seems that there are in excess of 43, not counting their pinpointer. That seems arduously expensive to tool-up to produce so many, granted that perhaps 6 could be eliminated from that list as being simply custom labeling for retailers. But the Elite 2200 and the Discovery 2200 are the same machines, however the "dashboards" of each are different as are the owner's manuals. What a parts department nightmare that appears to be. And that 43 units doesn't even count the other non- BH units they make.
