Over the past few years I've been saving my clad finds and using the proceeds to buy gold coins. This year I had to add a few bucks of my own to get this nice 1853 Type 1 $1.00 gold coin. It was tough to get a decent photo because of the luster. It only cost me $110.00 with shipping so I think I got a great deal. The dealer told me he just paid $135.00 for it at an estate sale 2 weeks ago. Hey, on eBay you win some, you lose some. That takes care of all the common denominations of gold coins ($1.00, $2.50, $5.00, $10.00 and $20.00) Now I just need the $3.00 and the $4.00 "Stella".
