Bought a Used Gold-Quest SS and...

wonder what I'm in for? It's on the way in the mail to me. I guess it was recently tuned by Mr. Bill. I've always wanted a version of this machine to try and once came close to purchasing an Aqua-Search. My intention is to use the SS as a beach machine. It has a black 11 inch coil with the rearward mounting ears. I once had a HH PI and liked it and think the SS might be similar- only just rain proof?

From my research I think I have a pretty good idea on how to tune the SS, and I'm pretty satisfied with an 11 inch coil for beach work. But I think I recall... OK, can ML PI coils be used with this machine, or am I confusing this with another model?

I also would like to know how the SS fares as a Prospector? I'm looking forward to learning the SS.

The Goldquest is a beach machine.

I do believe you will find the Goldquest substantially more sensitive to lower conductive targets like gold jewelry, than the Headhunter PI. In fact it's the most sensitive, responsive to gold jewelry, PI on the market you can buy, if your lucky enough to find one.

Minelab coils can be used on it so, so, but the advantage would be to stay with the stock 11" mono.

The Goldquest will do OK as a nugget hunter. Best to install a DD coil for that usage.

I am taking mine to the beach tomorrow for a few days to try it out. It is in the 50's and 60's in SC so I have to go. I will post when I get home. Will be using the stock 11 inch and have a Nugget Finder Mono 9 X 14 that I will also try. Can't wait. Love this weather and hope to find a few things.
