Hi guys , I was wondering who else bought one of these coils. I bought one for my Bandido ll umax and will tell ya it is very well built. It is heavy, it's like having a half of a brick at the end of your rod. I am getting 10 inches air testing it. But I really would like to see perform great in the ground. We will see soon. I will keep ya updated if your interested in getting one. HHS , GS

was looking at these coils I saw a 6 x 9 must have missed the 5 inch

must have a lot of winding in it , probably will go deep , do keep us informed,

Are you talking about the NEL 5.5"x 9.5" DD Sharpshooter coil?
If so then yes, I just got one for my Tejon, but I've not got a chance to hunt with it yet.

I wasn't to pleased with the tapered mounting ears (tabs), the bolt and the nut have a large flange on them but the tabs are not flat for them to rest against so when you get it snugged up it bows or arches the bolt a lot.
Then the cheesy detector brand sticker looks to be thrown on and very poor quality.

Now, the rest of the coil seems to be pretty good and how well it actually works is yet to be seen.

I am talking about the 5" Sharp coil, but that's ok because I am interested in the 9.5x5.5 coil also for the Bandido Il umax. I won't be getting it for a while because the snow but it is on the list. So if anyone has used any of the NEL coil. Please shear how it is working out. Thank,GS

Is this a DD coil?
I have the nel sharpshooter for my etrac and its a nice coil. It is heavier than the joey but its also waterproof.

Neil, it is a DD . I am not sure about how heavy it is compared to the Joey. I don't have a Joey to compare to. GS

I have the nel eliptical thats similiar in size to the joey. I think its also called a sharpshooter

Okay, I'm just stupid I guess, but what is a "Joey" I know I have a stepson named "Joey" I read a story once about a baby seal name "Joey"
But how does my NEL Sharpshooter compare to a "Joey" ?

A Joey is coilteks 5X10 elliptical DD coil that is available for the explorer series/sov series and I think some of the gold machines. Its the same size as the nel, same type(widescan) so its a good comparison. Its not waterproof and is probably the lightest coil made for the explorer/sovs. I think the nels detection window is a little tighter, its waterproof, overall a little more robust. Depth is about the same.
Im pretty sure coitek also makes a larger version elliptical which is called the wallabee:)
Gotta love the aussies.

5" NEL Coil ..............."like half a brick"..............nice idea for comfortable hunting..LOL !! I Hope lots of guys get one and then when they leave because their arms feel like falling off...........it's open territory for me. LOL LOL

Well, I don't see the "Heavy" problem unless your comparing them to maybe a 5.75" coil, but as compared to the Tesoro stock 9"x 8" the sharpshooter is just a little lighter.

On the scales, (digital kitchen food scales)

Tesoro 9"x 8" =_________________ 1 pound exactly!
The NEL Sharpshooter 5.5"x 9.5" =_ 15.3 ounces!
The Tesoro 5.75" Concentric = _____9.7 Ounces!
The Tesoro 10"x 12" Widescan =___ 1 pound 6 Ounces!
