If the big end opens bottles, whats the other end for?

The pointed end was used to punch a hole in cans (for example, oil cans)
 
Now why would I want to get oil on my beer can/bottle opener. It taints the flavor of the brew.
On oil cans I'da used my knife. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
