Bottle info please -Picnic flask???

Found this one a while back and was wondering if it is a picnic flask? Wine or whiskey? Country of origin? And value if any? The front says VINOL, the bottom says private mould, patented April 19, 1898. Thanks!

Vinol was a nutritive tonic.

Designed in 1898 by Edward Modes. The Chester Kent Company of Jersey City and also of New York City registered the name "Vinol" with the Patent Office as a protected trademark in 1897.

It was a mixture of drugs for treatment of diseases of the lungs, throat and air passages.

It is a common, but cool bottle made after the 18th century chestnut bottle. Not a picnic flask. Rick

Thanks Rick. I figured it was not rare, but I did think it's shape was different, for a modern bottle. I had it figured all wrong though. Thought it was used for one of those alcohol laden trips to the picnic area with the lady!! Never would have guessed it was a medicinal type. A mix of drugs....hmmmm. Bet it had a tinge of booze in it too. Probably made you feel better, at least for a while. Thanks for the info. I see you guys are still digging. Good luck at it. Keep posting those digs.

Yeah there was booze in mostly all of the(cures), like you said a "Feel good" tactic that worked for a while any way.:drinking:

It don't look like it to me....they are more rounded and not flat....but the longer looking neck is familar....it does look like a cross between a picnic flask and a chestnut flask
