Both CTX waterproof Koss & GrayGhost have good audio, but don't do what I did.

Been using both the Minelab waterproof Koss & GrayGhost headset, maybe its my hearing but both really sound good a happy camper for sure with either set.

The only problem to have encountered and this can happen with any headset under extreme heat conditions, if a CTX user places the earcups over the CTX housing the Minelab emblem may melt leaving it's print on the earcup pads.

It must have happened on a trip back from the ocean, after dropping off three friends tossed the CTX and gear in the back seat and there the detector stayed until the next day. I guess with the combination of the sun, windows closed and headset earcups pressed against the emblem the paint melted onto the earcups.

Considering the amount of paint melting off, can't really tell both portions of the emblem still look good.

Anyway, avoid placing any headset with the cups pressed against both sides of the housing.

Getting back to the waterproof Koss and GrayGhost, both are excellent headsets.

I had the same thing happen with my Koss waterproof headphones - did't mess it up as bad as yours, but still ticked me off :(

Hi Doc,

Sorry to hear it happened to you too, I know you live and detect under extreme hot environments much hotter than California. This can happen with any headset, I think because the ear pads are black they can absorb a tremendous amount of heat coupled with a soft substance such as dry paint can absorb it onto the hot ear pad.

Lession learned, keep detector covered and don't rest headset ear pads on the detector.

And Thanks Doc for shipping out the waterproof CTX Koss headset and 6" coil so quickly, already using them and the 6" coil is fantastic for fresh water.

Although already having the waterproof GrayGhost, it was good to see both brands having excellent audio so those that have the either the CTX waterproof Koss or GrayGhost will be pleased.

Thanks again Doc,

[size=medium][size=large]Good sound either one GG or M.Y.(Mellow Yellow)

I just like the GG fit but that's just me and at the time that was all that was available.....and heck that even took to long...

but My GG are forever marked on the ear muff by the Minelab bleeding paint. It works so hard it weeps.....so be careful or you may get............ a free look in the mirror.... Minelab Tattoo ......gee talk about customer Branding....

and if the lab technicians are still scratching their heads.... trying to get the LOGO'S to bleed.... you must USE the sacred secret ingredient.... that only true treasure hunters reek of DEET and sweat....AND... Of coarse a little heat....

after that bath..... she'll really start weeping......

I wonder if using the natural citrus bug repellent would have the same outcome?

I am still trying to see if this stuff works, too hot to even hunt for me at this point.

I don't like putting all those chemicals on me and now even my detector.

Thanks for the heads up though since the natural place to put headphones when you are walking back to the car is over the detector.so I will be sure not to do that now,

Happy Trails, Jim
