Boston Harbor / Cranes

Took these photo's a couple of months ago. The first is showing the Boston side of Boston, while standing on deck of the Nantucket Lightship, berthed at East Boston. The peaked building in the center is The Customs House, Boston's first skyscraper. The Tower was completed in 1915, whereas the original building dates to 1849. When built, the building actually sat at the edge of the Harbor. Extensive fill was used along the waterfront over the years, as you can see how far back the building sits from water now!
I am always fascinated by those Cranes on top of buildings, how do they get there? And how do they continue to go higher with the building? Amazing. A person must be completely crazy to be an Operator! Notice the large cement Counter Weights on the rear!
By the way, I use a simple SONY Cybershot / Full HD / 20x Zoom. I have had multiple Sony Cybershots, and really enjoy the simplicity.

Also, did you find out how they continue to go higher as the building goes higher?

These are nice pictures. You are doing a good job with that camera. Thanks for sharing. Kelley (Texas) :)

the crane builds it self up, from the inside! Go to You Tube, and punch in 'tower crane 7016' , it is amazing..
