I was wondering through a maze of corn with not a single hit and then a clear and hard hit! 78! and it was 10 inches down. I know in this area 50 means flat buttons and 78 is either a modern shell casing but 10 inches down I thought I had a chance as I was getting ready to call it a day after eight hours of flat buttons. I dug in the easy soil as it had rained hard the night before. After searching the pile with my pin pointer I had finally found it! A Virginia Local cuff button! Great shape and you can still read Sic semper tyrannis around the raised state seal. No back mark which from what I've read means it was made local and is more sought after but still need to do more research.
