Boost Me Through The Corn Field

Hunted a couple of old home sites in Central Indiana close to the river. I was mostly using the G2, trying to see how it handled the nails and debris. The last site of the day turned out to be a corn field. I pulled the F75 out and ran boost to try to get through the stubble and down stalks. We eventually located the house site by brick, pottery and glass pieces. I got a great hit and pulled this cool Eagle button. Being from Indiana has not made me much of a relic guy. Can somebody give me a guess as to the time period? The guy we were hunting with mentioned that he has pulled some CW relics from a few of the old house sites and even a plate. If you have any info, I would appreciate it. Opps, forgot to mention I did find an 1868 Shield Nickel in the first field with the G2.

Thanks, Don

Heres the result of a quick search on the web, its a site that sell reenactment button for uniforms. I thought it might help you in your search for age, rank, etc.

Try posting it on NASA Toms website..you'll get some answers....

Some of the guys have told me that it is indeed a general service button from the Civil War. Makes my day. I have always dreamed of hunting Civil War stuff and this week I got to do just that right in the middle of Indiana. Thanks, guys for the info. I dug another one today. See it on the G2 forum.
