Boo hiss, what happened to Bounty Hunter service?

Have not been on here in a while, but First Texas got my feathers ruffled.

I have an old discovery 3300. The membrane buttons have worn out. Easy fix for me to do. Contact First Texas they give me a price, put one in padded mailer and it's on it's way.

Nope! Sorry sir, we don't sell parts to users.

They did say I could send in my detector to be repaired for around $50.00. So with shipping I could get this old detector going for about $100.00.

I was told if it's that old I should just buy a new one. Nope Aint' gonna happen.

Come on First Texas you can do better than that.

OK I feel better after thats off my chest.

Product protection. People have been known to use parts to modify, remodify, create and do all kinds of things to detectors in the hopes of improving them. Many times trying to force the warranty when they screw up.

Knowing FTP, the $50 isn't just for the faceplate, but many times includes updated software and a full checking of systems under the hood. As you said, it's old. You can get a new Platinum for $300, or fix the old for $100. I see no ploblem with that choice.

I appreciate your thoughts my friend.

FTP I'm sure would take very good care of the detector if returned. Perhaps I just became accustomed to being able to call a metal detector company, from whom I owned and used their product, and buy/order replacement parts without my intentions being in question.

If I felt the need to back engineer the product I already own all the components.

It's not a matter of wrong or right. Simply how well a company meets the expectations of it's customers.

My expectations are to high.

Have a great day and may your finds be many.

Amen James.... I find myself in the same predicament for my OLD Bud Pro Special which I've
modified many times.
