Bonus Hunt Number 3 2008

Well I made it out again for a nice, crisp, bonus, 3 hour (almost) January hunt. My first ring of the year got my blood pumping but too bad it's a junker. Marked Disney and I would guess it's from Pirates of the Caribbean. I am in love with my new token with inspirational Bible verse on it. Thanks God for sending it to me. The toy soldier is made of some base metal covered in copper or bronze. He was in a hole with three cents. Two zinc, one copper. The musket ball and the piece of coal both registered as cents. A few other bibs and bobs. 70 coins for $6.85 exactly half of which were dimes. I set aside my 100th coin of the year and decided 1000 next then 5000. Also found the 55D wheatie that I needed in my find book.

Great finds Chris. You might already know but the 1955 wheat had a double die error. Look at the date with a loupe. If it is a DD, it's worth some $$$. I have only found one 1955, just this year also. It wasn't a DD. If it was, trust me, the board here would have known.

It's a 1955 D so no double die. I found one poor man's double die while looking through some wheats a while back. Just the lower loops on both 5s had the error. They're worth about 10-20 compared to their big brothers which fetch over a thousand bucks.
