'Bone phone' for the Excalibur?

Macaco

New member
Hi All,

I've been using the Excalibur for a few years now but I hate the headphones when I'm diving because they creep off my head sometimes and I have to keep adjusting them.

I want to replace the headphones with a 'bone phone' that I can stick up under my wetsuit hood below my ear.

Anybody know where I can buy a 'bone phone'?

I had a PI machine years ago that had one so I know someone makes them.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

Good idea, although as you know you will miss out on the audio tones of the detector. The website below (not hyperlinked) will take you to the site for the Aquapulse detector which can use a bone phone...they come with an Ikelite connector which may need to be removed if you want to wire it up conventionally....better yet, get the Excal modded that will allow an Ikelite connector....be able to change between regular headphones and the bone phone.

Good luck....be interested to see how it all works out.
Tony.

Great idea Tony,

I was just going to cut the headphone wire and splice in a 'bone phone' then use and epoxy/watertight wire splice.

I like the Ikelite connector idea better.

Happen to know of anyone in the US who does that kind of mod?

Somebody on the Excalibur forum probably does...I'll post over there.

Thanks for the link and the suggestion!

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

I'm way down here in Australia but your best bet would be to contact Minelab in the USA. Because the end cap on the detector body is removable, maybe they could replace it with one similar to the one they use on the battery pod that has the Ikelite thread/connection??? That would be perfect !!

All the best,
Tony.
