Maybe I should have left it where it was, but it's too late now. OR maybe it brings good luck, anybody know? It's a little bigger than a half dollar (1.28"X.065") and looks like silver.
THanks Dave

The God on the right side of the coin/token could be Lord Ganesh.(a guess from your photo). God of knowledge and the remover of obstacles, he is also the older son of Lord Shiva. Lord Ganesh is also called Vinayak ( knowledgeable ) or Vighneshwer (god to remove obstacles). He is worshipped, or at least remembered, in the beginning of any auspicious performance for blessings and auspiciousness.
He has four hands, elephant's head and a big belly. His vehicle is a tiny mouse. In his hands he carries a rope (to carry devotees to the truth), an axe (to cut devotees' attachments), and a sweet dessert ball -laddoo- (to reward devotees for spiritual activity). His fourth hand's palm is always extended to bless people.
A unique combination of his elephant-like head and a quick moving tiny mouse vehicle represents tremendous wisdom, intellegence, and presence of mind.
The swastika symbolizes the four types of the birth or realms into which a soul reincarnates during its journey in the universe.
I couldn't come up with an example of your item on Ebay or the internet.Perhaps someone else will ID it.

Bombay is located on the west coast of India, It has been called that for 400 years but the name of the city was changed to Mumbai in 1997. In India, the swastikas are a symbol of happiness. In the Hindu doctrine of S

Thanks Steve and Jay. Your explanation makes this coin(?) much more interesting. I found it at the beach in the wet sand, so much for being "PROOF". I examined it more closely and I think it was cast (not struck, like a coin). It weighs 10 grams. NOW you guys did such a good job on this I expect the same on the "STUMPED" item.
THANKS Dave

Interesting find with the Bombay Curse. Thanks for posting!
as far as the "Stumped item" please throw it in a box and forget about it. Better yet, take it back out and bury it again. Now get out there and find something else to post... <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
