Hello to all ! these finds are from July 5th and 6th, excluding 23 pennies, 1 wheat cent 1914 ? ( still trying to clean crust off ) The Item at the bottom looks like a crown to a pocket watch ? it's quite heavy ! has small red jewells around it, it is threaded inside. any ideas on it ? I found it yesterday in 6" of dry sand on a swimming beach along with some square nails and small rusty pieces of wire... I'm headed back out now, who knows what I will find today!! HH.. C-Dog

Picture is kinda small, so cant make it out well. Might be some bit off a piece of costume jewelry. Nifty little bauble, though.

Hi Dave, yeah, I placed the items on the scanner, first time I tried this method. I think I will go back to the camera ! the bauble(thanks for the correct spelling) looks to be heavy gold plated over a silver
colored base metal. I placed it in a Gold plated pocket watch body that I found this spring. It fit perfectly! I think I will go back to the beach and search for more pieces. Didn't find much this afternoon,
started with a 1952 wheatie, went down hill after that! clad quarter, two dimes and a pile of lead sinkers....C-Dog

No worries on the spelling - former English major here. I just can't let 'em go by. :clapping:

Well, now I know what a bauble is. I thought you had found a new way of using your detector.

Well,,,,I have always thought I was "somewhat smart" ,,,,,,,,,,,not bragging. I still don't know what a bobble, bauble is!!!! Are they pronounced the same?? I don't think I have ever seen or heard this word used to describe a object.

I going to assume its the round object at the bottom of the picture!!! lol:clapping:

Seriously, I once had a White's coinmaster classic, and whenever you detected the target and "bobbed" the coil straight up and down over the target, small trashy items would either not sound or just "blip" indicating trash. I can do the same with The Silver umax. And Bill, of course with his article onthe Ace and placing the coil on the ground with the pinpoint held in, then releasing it. Just never know what anyone can find out.

Have a good weekend folks !...HH:detecting: C-Dog

Thanks - sometimes folks take umbrage* when corrections are made. Rather than point it out, and come across all smarmy sounding, I just do it.
I'm always hoping for someone gracious like you, who will go,"Oh, okay. Well, alright - a new word."

Of course I like "hangy-downy-thing," a lot, too! :drinking:
