BLUE MAX 256 WIDE SCAN COIL:confused:

will this coil fit my idx classic sl----6.55 hkz detector? Appreciate some feed back---thank you.----james

Ain't gonna work, the only DD (wide scan) that will work is the 4X6" shooter that is still offered by White's. I'm not a big fan of DD coils, the best small coil is the Blue Max deepscan 600, 5.3 Black Max, or the 5.3 BullsEye concentric.

most Blue Max capable models.

Your Classic IDX, operating at 6.592 kHz or rounded off to 6.59 kHz or even 6.6 kHz, uses all the other Blue Max series coils. The BM 256 is a larger (12") coil and works with the earlier NON-BM coil version models from White's.

Of current compatible coils go to http://www.whiteselectronics.com/search-coil-compatibility-chart and look at the coils for the 6.59 kHz models listed. Those also work on the Classic III Plus, Classic III SL, Classic ID, Classic IDX and IDX Pro.

If you are looking for a larger-size coil for the Classic IDX SL to search for larger targets or get better depth on bigger targets, or maybe a little more coverage for mid-sized targets in open areas, you could consider the 15" Blue Max 15" Search Coil (6.59 kHz) P/N 801-3201 with a suggested retail of $199.95

I'm curious what purpose you have for the larger-size coil. Are you relic hunting more open areas or in search of moderate to larger-size targets?

then you can use the 8" Black coil with silver decal labeled Blue Max 800, or the replacement for it, that is black and labeled Pro Scan 800. You can also get a burgundy colored 8" named Royal 800, and there are a few black colored 8" coils from other models that might say Blue Max, as well as the "7.8 labeled 8" coil from the Quantum II.

In the 950 size there are several, usually labeled Blue Max.

I mentioned the 15" you can get if you want larger-sized coils.

Smaller sizes include the 4½" Snooper coil tat is labeled Blue Max 350, and the 4x6 Shooter DD coil that is also labeled Blue Max.

Best of all coils for all of the Classic series, as well as most other models they are made for in this size, are the 6½" diameter Concentric coils. They are the white-colored coil labeled Blue Max 600, or 5.3 Black Max, and the latest version which is 5.3 BullsEye. The latter two are black instead of white, and all three of these are the same size and design type.

Older coils, like you are showing here, are for earlier models that might work at the same frequency, but they are not compatible with the circuitry design. Pick from the coil selection above.

Question, what's wrong with your stock 950 coil? Too big? Damaged? Lost?
