Blue Excal headphones are acting up. Has anyone had to wash the insides out?

I notice the tones are starting to run together with very little variance and I remember someone posting that they washed the insides of their headphones up and cleared up the same problem.
Does anyone recall what was solvent used to clean the headphones?

All help appreciated,

It could just be my hearing on the fritz but I don't think so.

Hey bda, I don't know about solvent, but I rinse mine out every trip with fresh water. Some salt water gets in and it's best to wash it out. I never had a failure with the old blues, except broke the headset bracket. Sure do like my new yellow Koss. I had to pay $75 for the upgrade though and maybe yours will be free! Of course yer devastating duty will kill that theory. GH

Hey GH, I rinse mine out with freshwater too but the sound just isn't as clear anymore. It could just be hearing loss from so many years in the trades but if that's the case I'll trade up to Gray Ghosts.
I'll try a little soapy water instead of plain old universal solvent.
