are the old blue 6000s di -pro coinmasters worth buying??i have 2 buddys that have xlt spectrums that i cant afford how will they compare -also i struggle with programable electronics thats why im looking at analogs also any info on the 5900 any info would be appriciated

I used a 5900 back in the late 80s and it worked really good. It may not get down as deep as some of todays machines but it will find stuff. Im sure you could get a bigger coil for it to gain some depth. I know the stock coil i had on mine wasnt so great on a beach cause it floated but I beleave the 950 bluemax coil would work. I could be wrong its been years now and I dont remember to well.

'pass' on the early blue-housed 5900 and 6000 series models.

I'd suggest looking for a clean and decent 5900 Di Pro SL or 6000 Di Pro SL, especially one with the 'CB' version circuitry. They demand a decent price because they are what they are ... some of the best White's ever made, and they use the more current 'Blue Max' series of coils.

Better still, try to find a 6000 Pro XL or renamed XL Pro. They are lighter in weight, excellent detectors that also use the same coils. Depth of detection is some of the best ever from White's! Better than the XLT and most other models.

I still use one of the 5900di pro sl's and its one of the best detectors Ive ever owned and Ive used it to good effect for both coins and relics. I guess thats why they still bring over 300 bucks a pop on ebay. However having said that my next favorite would be the old Whites 6000 series II. Ive made some really good finds in the past with a couple of those. Still today they are nothing to sneeze at and somebody who is onto one can do very well.

the 6000 di proffesional blue box is as good a detector as you will ever have, i have quit a few of the blue box detectors. 6000di, di series 2. di pro. they are all great machines, alot of guys dont like them because it takes time and brains to use them. thats why they buy the new ones that do it all for you. (no brains required)). these machines will out perform most of the new machines. they just wont talk to you. and you have to practice, so you will have to find a hunting buddy to help carry all the money you find.
