Went out to the local yacht club to do some long waited water detecting. First time in the water in almost a year. Boy did it feel great to be back. Started out around 7am and the water was very nice. Water was a good 80 degrees and crystal clear from the waist down. Seen a large school of mullet swimming by me on both sides then almost got run down by a stingray that was about 3-4 foot wide, seen about 9 or 10 of them since it is breeding season.
Detected from 7 am to 10:30am, the heat was starting to get to me and I decided since all I was finding was change and pull tabs and bottle caps and the occasional sinker. I made my final turn to get ready to head back to the car and closed my eyes and made a little prayer "Please reveal the gold to me" just as I opened my eyes I swung my coil and a large blingage tone rang through my head phones. After making the scoop in the sand I checked the area and nothing. Strained the scoop and "WOW" my heart jumped in my throat and I looked around to make sure no one seen my excitement and was coming my way. Quickly grabbed it out of the scoop and dropped it in my pocket like nothing had happened.
So, on the way home I stopped at the hardware store to gloat to Ed and show off my little find. We put it on the scale and it weighed in at 29 grams and is marked 99.99% gold (24K) Its small but what a nice find.
