Every now and again you just kind of fall into a good thing. Well.....today was my day !
I was at my usual bank and there's a little gal that works there that I've known for quite some time. We talk when we get the chance but most times she's busy and can't spend too much time in conversation but I always ask her if any interesting coins have been found lately. Last week she told me of a 1905 silver dollar that someone had turned in for paper money and the other teller told me she had 14 "Ikes" if I wanted them so I bought those and left. She has my business card and I always tell her if something interesting comes up, give me a call and I'll come in and buy whatever she has found.
Today I was in the drive thru making a deposit and I asked her if any" big coins" had been turned in lately. She told me that she had 8 rolls of halves that someone had brought in today and asked me if I wanted them. i told her I'd park and come in to pick them up. She met me at the window, I gave her the 80.00 and walked out the door. My curiosity couldn't wait so I opened up the first roll to see a 1967 Kennedy half staring back at me ! I quickly dumped them out and discovered that the WHOLE roll was made up of 40% silver halves. The next roll was an entire roll of bicentennial halves, so I figured someone must have cashed in their coin collection. All the other rolls were common dates until the last one and again I find another entire roll of 40% silver halves. At today market, those 40 coins are worth about $256.00 ! Not too bad for a little time spent in the drive thru of your local home town bank. I may put the bicentennial rolls on the Misc for sale site and see if I can make a couple of bucks on those as well.
