Black Widow Headphones

I have a slight hearing problem (I'm partially tone deft). I've been trying to find a good pr. of headphones that would amp. the signal of my Exp.SE. I have already tried the Gray Goast NDT's (helped some) then the SR Pro Gold (better). Lately I've read that the B.W. were made especially for the hearing challenged--has anyone used these. Are they as good as the advertisement claim or is this just hype? I have the vol. on the SE max. out and the other phones I used max. out on vol control. Are the BW's louder than the others? Or maybe someone knows of a way to increase the vol. on the detector past the factory max. Thanks to all who respond in adv.--any and all help greatly appreciated. MackieG

hey makie. i just got a set from dicks sportinggoods got a great deal going via ebay shipped to me in two days for 118 clams if you are interested write back and i ll tell you how to get it done! as to the hearing they block out outside noise and can be adjusted if this helps i have not used them yet good luck

Hey Mack, I used these headphones. I don't have a hearing problem but u can turn these up to where it hurts my hears, and u can adjust volume on each ear. If u are close enough to a detector store you might want to try them first. I personally love them! ;)

These seem to work for some from the sounds of it, but with my real bad hearing they just are not loud enough as I tried 4 different sets of the BW. I tried many other headphones too trying to find ones that were loud enough and even bought a amp that uses a 9 volt battery from Doc down in Vegas and now I had some decent volume. I did find a set of headphones that have the volume on the Explorer, but not as good on my Sovereigns where i find the Timber wolfs are the loudest for the Sovereigns. On the Explorer I find the Troy Pros are the loudest I have seen plus the most comfortable too, but I don't know where you would get a set right now as I have E Mailed Troy asking for 2 more sets and not got any reply yet. The Black Widows are good, but myself i didn't see them any more volume than any of the other Gray Ghost headphones and yet find the headphone for the Uni Probe which is the same as many of The Gray Ghost to have a better volume than the BW did.

Thanks for the info on Dick's having the Black Widow headphones -- were they a stock item there, or special order. I have a Dick's about 5 miles from my home. I'm off work for a couple of wks so if push comes to shove I can go to some det. stores-- none closer than 60/70 miles round trip. I live in Mi., but this hobby doesn't seem to have a lot of participants around the gen. area so any equip. is either mail ordered or wait for the time to shop. Thanks Again, and lol in your hunts. Mack
