Black Sand Merc!

Big North wind set up some onshore rippers, hitting from the quarter angle...a guy has to unfortunately hunt with their back to them on account of the longshore rip is so strong, theres no way you can swing your coil against it...You have to keep the offshore ear open for a sizzling breaker and be ready to jump straight up to keep from getting plowed! Its tough scooping too, our waves are really steep and very close together, like a second apart, so it takes a bit of practice to scoop...not fun, but that longshore rip really plows out the overburden right down to the hardpan...Big blowout at this log where I have taken photos during the winter...[attachment 312229 apr2715.jpg][attachment 312230 Apr2-15-1.jpg]
See the difference between Apr 2nd and today? No ice at least!

I got a 34d merc and a couple wheats washed right up on the black sand and all this stuff either out in the water or on the black sand...Hunting for gold which eluded me once again!

On this black sand, sometimes you only get a tiny 'tic' in your phones...but theres something there if you scoop for it...even coins on the surface of it give a squirrely report...by gosh, looking at my pics, that a lot of coins!, green nickels get a guy excited! Ones a Canadian with a beaver on it! The pics of the waves dont make it look too bad...but it was windy and a real tough gig to be in the water trying to scoop something... They really wear a guy out..I spent 3hrs in here...

Mud....That's a good amount of coins you got there! The moon face pendant is a cool catch and the silver Merc; is a nice find too!! When gold and silver are nowhere to be found, the second best thing is lots of change because at least you can buy a drink or 2 at the end of the day and celebrate (or drown your sorrows) lol!!!

That's a good haul of bad looking coins. I wonder what the dates are on some of those. They've been in the water awhile. There must be some old gold on that beach. :)

Thanks guys...Yeah theres gold here, you can tell just by the sheer number of targets and their age, theres @30' of beach completely gone...NOWS the time to find it too..this is a heavily hunted beach all throughout the Summer....4 of the pennies were wheats....

I've found gold here before, strange I have not hit one silver ring in this mess either? Besides that little toe ring the other day....So I'm up very early today getting ready to go again since Time and Gold wait for Nobody..:detecting: It better be big gold to pay off this effort!..
