Black Max 5.3 versus Blue Max 600

I recently purchased a Classic III with Mr. Bill's mods and the standard 9.5" coil. I also purchased a Royal 800 coil and now I have decided to go ahead and purchase a smaller coil for the real trashy areas. How does the Black Max 5.3 compare with the Blue max 600 and are there any advantages to one over the other? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I've got a 600 on my Mr. Bill IDX. Except for the color and the 600 has a longer coil wire there is no real difference. Rob

Thanks for the response. Either one should make my Classic work for me in most places that I will be hunting. I am just a coin shooter. Regards!

[size=large]White's has had a 6

Thanks to all for your help on this coil question and "Monte", I appreciate your response as well. Your knowledge about this type of thing has helped a lot of us through a difficult situation. I have found a new 5.3 Bullseye, cover and lower rod from a White dealer within 35 miles of my home. I got a great deal on these items and he has more of the coils if you need one. I live near Paducah, Ky and he is a dealer there. Thanks again to all! HH

Can't remember where but I read that the BM600 is a different (better?) coil than the later models. Never took the time to find out one way or the other. Are the patent numbers the same? Really enjoy my BM600 on my XLT. Would never sell it.

Ron

My XLT "package" came with the "blue-max" 4by6, shooter, DD coil.I have read some good posts on the use of this coil, that are very help-full. Whites makes EXCELLENT
products, & at $150.00, I don't think you will go wrong.

The coils in question are the same for all intents and purposes, except for the physical differences Monte mentions.

I can tell you this: the Classic III with a 6" coil is a tight, concise sharpshooter. Once you put that coil on you may never take it off.

How much does he want for that coil?

I don't post very often, but lurk a lot and read your posts from time to time. I can check with the White's dealer I purchased my 5.3 from and see if he has any more of them and what he's charging. I keep this coil on my Modified IDX Pro and use the detector most of the time that way. The 5.3 is just amazing on depth in discriminate mode and doesn't do too bad in the all metal mode either. I don't care too much for the different 8" coils available for the detector, but really like the standard 9 1/2" coil, If I need a little extra depth and more coverage I just go to it. I also hunt with an F75, but would much rather use the IDX, because I trust what it's telling me. It really is the best coin machine I've ever owned, and Mr Bill did a great job of making it better with his modifications! Happy Hunting!!!
