Finally, here are some pic's of my Grandfather's over 6 foot long battleship. Not nearly as detailed as Mike's work but still pretty nice.....

these guns move around & everything & it does float <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

The props & rudders are real brass & are all hooked up inside to have worked.....

I think its very detailed and an outstanding example of a fine ship. Your grand father had to have spent more then a few hundred hours on this model, more like a few thousand hours of work. You can see the attention to detail that he gave to this model.
You know, I bet there are maritime museums that would love to display this model because I don't think there are to many Bismark models laying around. I'm sure you wouldn't sell it, but it could be put on loan to a local museum for everyone to enjoy his handy work.
Thanks for the pictures Bill, I really enjoyed see them. What a real beauty she is.

There are alotta little details.....right down to the lights having glass in them. As I said, there is a museum, fittingly in "Battleship Cove", Fall River, Mass. with several models. I need to ask again about them taking it on loan. My parents have no room for something that large in a small house....
Anyhow, glad you liked it....Bill
