Bird whistle and barber dimes.

Got my first two barber dimes and this cool whistle from an old farmhouse built around 1860. just thought I'd start posting my goodies, hope you all enjoy the pics as much as I like seeing yours. Patrick

Nice finds Patrick I really like the whistle. If you do not know it looks like a whistle that you fill with water to get the bird sound. I have a plastic one not as nice as yours.
Don

Hey Minas Man, You nailed it! It's a water whistle indeed.

When it is filled with water the action of the bubbles creates a repetitive whistle just like a bird song.

Thanks very much for the informative post. Patrick

That whistle is a really cool find, but then again so are the Barbers. Thanks for sharing and congrats!

Thanks for looking.

What you can't see in the pic is the true color of that whistle. It has a base layer of gold with transparent red over it making it a beautiful candy apple red.

Must have looked fancy when it was new.

Anyone have an idea of the approximate age? My guess is from the twenties but that is only a guess. I saw a similar one in worse condition listed for $80.00

The value is insignificant as I will most likely never sell it.

Peace and good huntin' to all. Patrick

I like that Bird Whistle..... too bad toys aren't as simple as that nowadays!! LOL Thanks for posting ..... Nice Silver too!! :detecting:

I forgot to ask you Patrick what model Tesoro are you swinging to make these finds?
Don

Don, I was using the Tejon. I like the 5.75 widescan. For me it is better than the stock concentric for discriminating out small iron.

Good luck and thanks for looking. Patrick
