Since I can't do anything stressful to my body for at least the next 4 weeks I decided to go to my favorite lake and see what was happenin'. The longer I stayed, the better it got. First we had another wedding party come down to take pics. ( I forgot I had camera in sepia tone) most everything is still colorless around here anyways. Then the swans came around. Then the guy in the gyro-copter started buzzing the lake, my settings on the lens made the rotor blade stop.....lol. Looks like it stalled. Then this woman came to meditate on the hill across the ways in the late afternoon sun. It was taken at full 720mm zoom. I was playing with different settings and snapping away when she turned and smiled at me when she realized I was taking her pics. All in all, it was great to get away from the house and just enjoy God's gifts to us. Naturally, I stayed for the sunset, and as always, God has a beautiful canvas.......nge I took one pic of the gyro that looks like it is hanging from the tree tops.

These are nice pictures, and good story too! Will you be taking more pictures in the next four weeks of your recovery? Kelley (Texas) :)

He buzzed me about 25 foot above the lake and about 100ft. away from me on one pass, only and I didn't get him, (too fast) the rest were anywhere's from 1/4 mile away to about 400 feet away. and I'd say at one point he was about 500 ft. high and across the lake. All mega zoom (full 720 mm) were taken hand held. I was in EXR HR mode, can't remember what other settings were. I lose them when I resize. Got it now, I have the settings saved on my screen......ISO-auto 400, Full HD M Fine, DR100 Image size (M) 3:2, color-high, tone- hard, sharpness - hard, noise reduction - high. Hope that is enough info. This is what everything was shot in today, other than occaisionally adjusting the contrast. That's it.

Moving targets are difficult for me on some occasions and I would have had a hard time getting the gyro man pictures. You did good. Kelley (Texas) :clapping:

You bet your sweet bippy! Some of the pics he flew into my frame. I put my camera where he wasn't, then snapped away when he flew through.

Now, birds are more unpredictable, as they often change speed and direction at their whims.....nge

I often approach the target from the rear, move past the target, then take the picture as it flies into my viewfinder. Kelley (Texas) :)

yep, attack from the rear, then capture as they fly into your view finder. Sorta like shooting doves when out bird hunting. Put about a 3 foot lead on them, you'll get em most of the time when they fly into your pattern.
