Got a nice 1897 barber half yesterday with my new CZ3D..Guess Dan can't live without a CZ..By the way its the newer version made by the new Fisher and is tuned correctly to Nasa Tom's spec's. So those looking for an older one made by the old Fisher keep this in mind..

Dan-----Do you feel that ALL the new 3D's are tuned better than the old ones (1021 & 1121)?-----I had a 1021 series 3D & it was TERRIBLE--after 2 trips to Fisher they finally got it tuned right but by that time I was so sick of it I got rid of it.--I talked myself into another one (a 1121 series) sometime later and it seemed to be OK but I finally traded it in---I thought I read somewhere that the CZ3D's needed to be individually tuned (when leaving the factory new)--is this the case?---That one trip my first 3D made to the factory for repair--the tech told me it was checked by 3 people before it went out the door (when it was repaired & tuned) and I can guarantee you-it was FAR from right when I got it back.----Sounds like from what you are saying--the new ones are tuned better--am I understanding you correctly?--Wouldn't mind trying a 3rd one if that's the case.--Don't know if they are going to stop production on them or not.----------Del

I guess I didn't get the same meaning from Dans staement you did. I took it he said his was good. From what I have read, some are some ar not. Someone said that they could be tuned but only if they had depth to begin with. Anyway I just bought a older one (1021), that the previous owner says is nice and hot, hope so!!

I have a "New Fisher" 3D. No issues at all. It was tuned correctly right out of the box. It is super hot and ID is right on.

In fact, I kinda know what your going through as often I miss the features of my CoinStrike as I mess around with & try to get usetd to all these new generation Fisher's......
The 3D is an awesome machine. I sent a guy from out of town on biz to our city park here who was skilled with his 3D. The list of indian heads & barber dimes he found were mind blowing! He cleaned house in a heavily hunted park. Good luck with it.......

Seems like its been going around that the new Fisher CZ3D units aren't tuned as well as older ones made by the old Fisher and can't prove it by me...
From my experience with CZ's and I have used every model ever made some are just a tad hotter whether digital or analog..
I would suggest buying new from a reputable dealer that knows CZ's and have him try the unit he is going to sell you before you buy and would be the safer way to go..
Do remember accurate ground balance and a slow swing equates to superior depth and the optimum sens. setting according to Nasa Tom is 4.8 whiles older CZ's could set them 5-6-7-8 sens while having a stable unit but even at a lower sens. setting CZ3D will go as deep as older CZ's set higher..Would imagine different sens. parameters I would guess...Good luck in your decision..

Have to agree with DAN-Pa on a properly tuned CZ-3D. Had mine re-calibrated by NASA TOM back in July. Due to the ground being so dry and hard had not been out. But about a week ago ( Sept. 13 ) we had 5 inches of rain in two days, went to my mom's house and in about a two hour span I managed to pull out 2 Indian Heads ( 1893,1902 ) 1 mercury dime ( 1943 ) and a 1946 nickel. All the coins but the nickel were 5 1/2 to 6" deep. The nickel was 7". All the coins came in loud and clear with a solid hi-tone. Even the nickel came in hi-tone like it should. This was one reason I had the unit re-calibrated because in enhanced mode it would register older nickels as mid-tone round tab. Not any more.
I have hit this yard before with other brand detector's so I am a firm believer in the CZ-3D. Best unit I have owned. Easy to ground balance and set up, no bells and whistles just listen to the tones.
Thanks Tom for a fine detector.

they must have listened to the "concerns" expressed on this forum!

I read it as Dan was perfectly happy with his new CZ3D.......and it nailed the half. dan we are correct arent we..You like it right?.

CZ3D is a fine unit and this is a new one made by the new Fisher and is calibrated right on no matter what anyone else says about CZ3D's manufactured by the new Fisher..
