I've sat back and watched the various threads on this forum come (and go ) with the interest you always have when a new detector is on the horizon. One of the truly fun parts of this hobby for me is the anticipation of a new machine being released... personally I get that "little kid at Christmas" feeling everytime!
One thing you can count on when a new machine is speculated on is "heated" exchanges. The F-75 is no different in that respect. We ALL have opinions. That's part of what makes life fun. We can agree on one thing...we will NEVER agree on everything
I just felt compelled to post a little about Bill Ladd. ( and no, he's not paying me I've never even met him) When I first got interested in the Coinstrike and started posting question on the C$ forum, he was always quick to respond with useful information. After I finally picked up my first C$, he (along with several other great folks) helped me stumble my way through the learning process of this unusual detector. They made the transition smooth and easy. If you read this Bill, thanks for all you've done for the hobby and hopefully will continue to do.
Bill has spent lots of time working with school groups, teaching a new generation about the joy of metal detecting. They also get to learn about history from some of the great finds he takes to show them.
I do believe if you cut Bill ladd, he would bleed Fisher black and gold. He has done tons of field tests, promotions, and magazine articles... always loyal to the Fisher heritage.
There's now a new chapter being added to the Fisher story...First Texas.
I hear a lot of folks quick to slam the changes, but for me, I'd rather have a new chapter than see the end of the book. For all intents and purposes, First Texas "saved" Fisher from ceasing to exist. As a company, all reports are they were losing money. Why? I don't know... I think they have great detectors. But, the fact remains they probably would have ended up in bankruptcy if something didn't happen. The "something" that happened is Dave Johnson and First Texas. In my humble opinion (and you know what they say about opinions ) they rode in on a white horse and saved the day.
Will we, the end-users, like everything we see from the new Fisher? I highly doubt it. However, they seem to be very responsive to feedback from the user community and more than willing to try their best to give us what we want. Call me an eternal optimist, but I think we could very well see some great things to come from the new Fisher...
