Looking to buy my first md and plan to hunt old homestead sites and some parks.coin and jewelry mostly.Should i go with the T2 or the id edge?I know the edge has small coils and the t2 doesn't will that be a problem?Just looking for some advice and i know you`ve used both Bill.thanks

The Fishers are great relic hunters and have some good depth, I have a CZ7A. Just because you can get an assortment of coils with the Edge makes it look better, and the good name, LOL! I just bought a Minelab X-Terra 70 and would like a larger coil, many are waiting for a smaller sniper type coil and they are not on the market yet. HH, Mike

I have a T2 and an ID Excel (very similar to the Edge).

I wouldn't recommend the T2 as a first detector.
It's a wonderful machine but I think a newby would find it too complex to enjoy fully and you may become frustrated with it. It's a highly sensitive detector and produces a lot of signals & info that may be a bit overwhelming for a first timer.

If you like the looks of the ID Edge, I would recommend that one to start. Or, even something simpler like the 12xx-series Fishers.

Though it's a real tough call, and nothing against the T2 at all. But for a new detectorist the ID-Edge would be the perfect choice I think. Especially with all the presets & stuff which were sort of added with beginners in mind to just turn on & go.....
good luck,
Bill
