Neither of these pics are "great", but the young lady went to a lot of trouble to get them to me.

They were taken as I left the water after my first hunt in January this year.

They offer a fair view of the gear I use and how I carry it.

(PS "Full view" offers a little better look at detail.)

That's some real dedication and a lot of extra gear to wear and carry!!............... Humbles this Florida cracker.

what is that extra shaft going from the shaft to the coil?

Digging locally is mostly into stone and often boulders requiring lots of force on the scoop for penetration.

My method has me standing on the rear of the scoop and using my detector shaft/coil to steady myself while I force the scoop into the bottom.

The brace protects the coil and keeps the shaft/coil angle where I prefer it.

It's a method I have used successfully for years.

Mr. Dual Field and I became acquainted in 2009 and have had a fine working relationship ever since. (It has not been in the shop since I bought it and still performs flawlessly!!!)

GL&HH Friends,

Lew you are hard core buddy, I see what you guys hunt in now......Hard core conditions...

Your looking really well these days and happy to be out of the cold water.
Thanks for reminding me...I have to get to work on the gloves for the coming winter months.
I still love YOUR beach and miss detecting it. I am glad to see you are still keeping it clean of all the heavy metals. I assume you pouch is full of goodies.
Enjoy the summer!

Great Pictures! Somehow imagining you hunting in a totlot in shorts and a short sleeve shirt just wouldnt be the same!:clapping:

The Diablo scoop is not in production at this time, but there is hope for the future.

It is a fine tool!!

I have recovered over 4,000 targets in some of the toughest stony ground water hunting with the one pictured and it is still my digger of choice.

Thanks for asking,

CJ

GL&HH Friends,

G/Day CJ,
we have not chatted for a year or two now..
I recall when you switched from the Infinium to the Duel field, sounds like it was the right move. I know a few blokes here who use the DF and are very pleased with it for beach work.
I still have the Infinium which has operated perfectly and it still gets the occasional run at the beach although I tend to favour my Sand Shark now because of the ease of use of this detector and it achieves good enough depth for my digging ability these days. I had a play with an ATX for a short time but will not be purchasing one of these detectors.

Good luck.
Cheers
Fishers Ghost.

Great to hear from Ya Mate!!

As an Old Hunter who spent too many hours on a flight-line around jet aircraft with too little hearing protection I have enough hearing loss to want to keep detector responses simple and easy to hear.

The Infinium I used would wear me down with constantly tweaking ground balance etc.for best performance and it didn't take much experience with the Dual Field to get me hooked!!

The rest is history as they say!!

Regards,

CJ

CJ, I am assuming you were Air Force? What was your AFSC?
