biggest depth you have gotten with ctx 3030

I'm sure you are aware that depth with any detector is dependent on the ground, the target and user skills........ but with that said, I have found Civil War bullets at 16 inches in All Metal (pinpoint) and Indian head cents and bullets at 12 inches with open screen discrimination mode. My ground is pretty mineralized and more depth can be expected in less mineralized ground.

Did you get a positive ID on the targets at this depth? I understand you where running open but when you found them did you get good numbers?

Yes, I was surprised at how well the CTX will ID deep targets. The Indians were 12-32, 12-34 and I can't remember what the bullets ID'd at but I knew what I was digging.

Mev, I have a youtube video of me digging a measured 16" civil war bullet here in mild VA soil. Here is the link

I hunt in discrimination modes, think it was FE35 that day but not sure.

I hunt in open screen whichever mode I am with the relic program.

When you get a target ID which will be broken on really deep stuff, after taking a few inches of dirt off switch to the other pattern in relic mode which has very mild iron discrimination built in.

When you get closer to the target even with a small iron disc. you will get good tone ID.

There is no detector made at any price that will discriminate and give target ID at depth like the CTX 3030.

The only high end machine I have not owned is the etrac but based on what others are saying that have owned them the 3030 is the winner.

My relic shovel has a 16" blade on it and the Garrett pinpointer is about 9" I would think.

I have not seen anyone dig anything on video like this. A few weeks ago I got a signal on a trench that has been pounded with even DMC 2-B with 15" coils.

The first target I got was a flattened bullet 18" but honestly I think the bullets all around it even ones as deep as 24", ended up getting about 10 bullets out of a 2 square foot area.

In this TN. red clay I have dug several CW bullets in the 12 to 14 inch range. Also two days ago in a public park got a 1947 Washington 12+ inches. Manual sensitivity 28 gain 24 and I too use the open coin screen and the factory relic mode. At the beach targets 14 to16 inches are very common. HH :minelab:

I am waiting on a couple more responses before I bite the bullet. I just cant handle falsing on square nails.

All my hunting sights have trillions of them....

Falsing on square nails will happen with every machine I believe, it is just a matter of learning the machine and reading the target trace with the CTX that helps you identify them.

 IDing rusty square nails come under the "User Skills" I was talking about. I dig far less square nails with the CTX than I did with the SE or ET. Most of my square nails will not give good 4 way audio.
