Bigger Coils...

We do not need another X-Terra 90, what we really do need is something like a 12.5" x 15", 12.5" x 18", (12" x 24" my number one choice), or (14" or 15" round coil like the WOT) for the X-Terra 70. For relic hunters, homestead hunters, farmers field hunters, beach hunters, and gold prospectors. Did you ever face a field about 100 or 200 yards across that needed to be gridded and hunted. I want a large coil for this. For Minelabs SD, GP, and GPX machines(yes they have much more battery power to drive them) a 12" x 24", 20", 24", 25", (30" special order) and 20" x 40". The underlined ones are the ones I have for the large field coverage. You may say use these coils then. Yes in very low trash as PI's have very poor discrimination but not in iron infested fields where a person needs a deep VLF discriminator.

Some may say it is not necessary to have one and only the inexperienced or those who do not know would want one because bigger is not better and the more ground a coils sees taxes on the machine. BUT the HUGE size>>>WOT, SunRay, Jimmy Sierra, Excelerator, and SEF coils seem to be working fine on VLF's. With very good reviews on the SEF which has a 12" x 15" and 15" x 18" and (a 17" x 21" is suppose to be coming out), all available for the Whites MXT, DFX , and M6 and also Minelabs BBS and FBS units.

I bought a Musketeer Advantage because the biggest coil available for the X-Terra 70 is 10.5 DD and I do need a bigger coil capicity for large black dirt homestead fields. A 15" WOT and also a 12.5" and 14" Excelerator(from Kellyco) is available for it. If a person knew electronics a new coil size could be made, my favorite size coil of 12" x 24" could be custom made for the Musky. Some maybe would like to see an 8" or 10" X 18" instead. For Whites a Bigfoot coil--(3 and 1/2" x 18") (The Bigfoot is showing up in competition hunts across the country, even on plowed fields in England) from Jimmy Sierra Normandy http://jimmysierra.com/loopsZ.htm and a Clean Sweep coil--(3.6" x 18") http://www.tesoro.com/product/coils/cleansweep/ from Tesoro.

I prefer a Musky over a Sovereign GT because BBS and FBS are slow machines and defeat the whole purpose of fast ground coverage in large fields. Sometimes I think I should have bought an MXT or DFX with a large SEF coil for this purpose.

For a same size coil comparison test, an MXT with 9.5 -against- the Musky with the TS 1000 coil. I wonder what goes deeper for black dirt plowed fields ? In my estimation the Musky would if I had to make a guess ? But I do not own both machines to make that test ?

Also a 12" x15" SEF is available for the Fisher F75 in Europe, not available in North America. That was also a consideration.

Minelab has a corner on all coils for the VFLEX machines with the patented "chip" so no aftermarket ones can be made. All my problems would be solved if a very large DD coil was made available for my X-Terra 70 then I would not have to buy a Musky or other detector strickly to get a large coil. The 9" Concentric's and 10.5" DD's are good for all other tasks besides large fields.

But for now I will use the Musky with the CoilTek 15" WOT DD for that large farmers plowed field and homestead field task...and my X-Terra 70 with smaller coils for the rest of my detecting.

Has anyone ever heard of this unit before? I'll have to do more research. I found a metal detector that I know nothing about? with the size of coil I am looking for. I wonder if the 24 x11 is in inches and not centimeters and yes I think it is:
