bigger coil needed for Sharp Shooter 2

swinging

New member
I need a larger coil for hunting sports fields. I'm not really after more depth but want more coverage than the stock 8" can provide. I know there is the 10" concentric coil available, but I would prefer a DD coil if possible. I have heard that some people have utilsed the Fisher 11" DD coil on the BH detectors. My S/S 2 uses a push in style connector.

Can anyone advise if they have had any success with this setup? Thanks in advance & HH!

I bet some of the Forum Sponsors here could not only answer your questions but give you a fair deal too if you decided to purchase. HH. Matt

By the way...I have not heard any rave reviews about the BH Magnum coils. Maybe someone who has a Magnum or something else on their BH can voice their opinion. The BH SS II was my first detector 3 years ago. I actually find I enjoy the BH 4" coil very much but obviously you wont cover much ground or get great depth with it. Good luck and let us know what you come up with. HH. Matt

I have the nugget, standard and magnum coils for my BH SSII. The magnum does pretty well, may be a little better depth, but pinpointing was not as easy as with the other coils. I found that I had pinpointing and stability problems in trashy and iron laden soil; guess that is to be expected with the larger concentric coil. I had been interested in a DD if available, but never ran it to ground as to whether one of the Fisher coils would work or not. I usually use the stock coil, but the 4" nugget is a blast, you get great targer separation and can get in tight areas.

I just purchased an 11" DD coil for my Pioneer 505 and it rocks. If you have a push on type coil on your Sharpshooter II, an 11" DD coil will work on yours too.
