BIGFOOT on Vx3

JV

New member
I bought a Vx3 as a backup detector for if a friend or family comes out detecting with me.
I have put the Bigfoot on there and am wondering what adjustments I can make for hunting sports fields that don't have much trash and most targets are going to be pretty shallow
Besides running in 7.5KHZ, I am guessing I can change the recovery speed and the filter? What numbers would you guys suggest for these? The VX3 is limited on the filter. I think it is only 5 or 12.
I don't think the VX3 has coil selection on the menu but this only affects the depth reading?
I find the VDI to be pretty accurate with the bigfoot on the VX3 in 7.5khz! It really covers a large area in a short amount of time.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Rx gain 7. Disc sense 70 am 55. 5 kHz filter. Coin and jewelry mode. Vco pp. Tone ID. A friend ran a Bigfoot on his. And did well in the tot lot areas. I'm by far no expert on the vx3. But I know those that run that setup and clean house!!!!!!! HH c t

The coil is very narrow and you should adjust for it. To set your R/D, put two targets down, just a little more than a coil width apart and swing at your speed. As you swing, adjust RD until you can hear both targets in both directions. This tells you that as soon as the leading edge of the coil field hits the first target, RD started, and the RD cycle ended and the machine was ready to process before the leading edge of the coil pattern hit the second target.

Sorry I didn't include that in my first post now ofcourse all areas are different as are all coils maybe the same Bigfoot that you have is not the same as my buddy's cos can change over time things can happen they can go out of phase best to do what Rob says use the lower settings and test it out adjust the recovery delay and sense gain as you see fit I got a hothead coil I haven't used in 5 yrs. Put it on the xlt and it's no good! OK HH. C t

If I just want to look for gold jewelry can I just reject everything except for -10 to +30 and then digging everything? Wouldn't that get me most gold items? What else can I adjust so I can get "most" jewelry? What about searching in a higher frequency (22.5khz) with a different coil ?
