Bigfoot on an MXT

Hunt4Fun

New member
Hi all,

Sorry to be so full of questions but I would really appreciate any advice from people with experience using a Bigfoot coil on an MXT. Have been using my MXT with an 8

The Bigfoot coil has a higher pitch to its sound on the rear half and normal response on the front half. It is something that I had to make a conscious effort to listen for. After a few hours or so you will automatically react to that response.
I regularly find coin size targets with very good response to about 4 inches or so. Deeper than that is not common on pennies, dimes and nickels. Quarters and half's etc. will respond an inch or so deeper.
I have never used it on wet sand but on dry sand it works as deep as on normal sod.
I personally swear by the Bigfoot coil. I have found more goodies with it then I did with the stock coil. Which by the way is a very good coil. Another thing, the Bigfoot pinpoints as good or better than any of the 4 coils I own for the MXT. Remember it is only 3 inches wide so it is a cinch to pinpoint with once you get the hang of it.

I would not trade it for anything. My finds have increased 30 to 40 percent using it in large playgrounds and sports fields.

Thanks for the info Treasure Mike. I really wanted to hear from an actual Bigfoot user before getting serious about buying. As you know they are not cheap.

Thanks again
Bob

I use the Bigfoot on my DFX and my wife uses it on her MXT. Sometimes we are in the mood to "sweep" a playground, sports field or beach and have a blast doing it. The Bigfoot is a keeper and will quickly pay for itself. Mike is right on with the pinpointing too. You will seldom be off more than a half inch. Yes, you can expect 4 to 5 inches of depth, more on the beach. I have heard my wife say that her Bigfoot double beeps on one half of the coil so you will know which half of the coil is over the target. My DFX does not do that but wish it did. Good information to know at competition hunts. We have gone "cladding" and came home with over $50 many times using the Bigfoots.

That is really good information. Thanks Larry.

BTW, $50 in a clad sweep between 2 people sounds great to me.

Thanks again
Bob

Have you tried the Hot Foot? Looking for any info on this
coil. My understanding was they work similar to Big Foot
but add depth. Boy i sure feel like a dinosaur shopping for
a computer at times.

We have lots of fun with it too Bob. We will pack a lunch and make a day of it. A $50 day is a looooooooong day.

And, no I haven't tried the Hotfoot

Truly sounds like lots of fun. My best day was at a school. I dug 117 coins for $9.40 a few trinkets and quite a bit of trash. Got up the next morning sore but happy.

If I had a $25 day, I am not sure I could stand all of that happiness/soreness. Ha

Again, thanks for the info.
Bob
