Bigfoot Coil.

What is the proper way to ground balance this coil to the detector.

You ground balance the MD the same way you do with any coil that goes on the MD.. Ground Elimination Balance as whites calls it, is the setting of the MD to ignore the minerals in the ground and is done however the machine requires it to be done no matter what coil is installed..

The instructions that come with the Bigfoot coil state that the coil should be at a 45 degree
angle to the ground, with tip down and back end up. A 45 degree tilt. Then pump the coil.
Machine on first while held aloft.

+1 on the 45 degree GB.

Exactly what empty pockets described above.

Yes +3 on the 45 degree tilt. You will love it as I have one on my XL-PRO 6.59 khz Detector. Had it out Thursday at an athletic field that held a 3 day carnival. Got a pile of Quarters and a Silver ring the second one so far. It covers a lot of ground fast and doesn't miss much in the first 5'' or so. They are great for rakin' Quarters and diggin' the Tab and lower signal's for Gold. At least that's the way I use mine.

Good one! I had forgotten that there was a special way to ground balance it. I haven't used my XLT and Bigfoot coil in years. I just started using it at the beach again and was ground balancing it like the stock coil. It still was sucking up the targets like a vacuum cleaner. :detecting: Thanks for your post:thumbup:

Talked with Jimmy Sierra one day a while back, real personable guy. He said to balance it on black top pavement. That works really well for me. Go get you some.
