Big Thanks to Percy!!!!! Got myself another Sidewinder Umax!!!

I had one of these the first month they came out, Unit worked well but got into a trim the detectors down mode (like now!). Sold it to a buddy of mine for his wife. This was when they first came out and were looked at like a "toy" detector as we were all using clunky Fishers CZ6a's and 1265-66X's. Well i knew it was not a toy, also had other Tesoros and knew they kicked butt in iron trash. So away she goes, and proceeds to kick all OUR butts big time, her first time out I think she dug a 1/2 reale 1700 something, her most recent big find last spring was a square CS plate!!!! She uses the troy S-7 coil on it only and had it tuned at the factory to match the non-gb machine. So taking note of that I've got a S-7 er for my sidewinder Umax!! I also like the crisp tone of the unit. It's a 12 khz machine if I'm not mistaken??
Even to this day after using several (like 8 of the Umax's) I think this is the top of the Umax line. Pinpoint button, threshold AM all the good stuff cramed into a little 2lb unit only downside is the little wires on the 9v plug. This 1st Umax was a bit unusual cause it came with the all metal rods, w/ short isolator near the coil. All I know is I'm very pleased with the unit and glad to have another "keeper"!

Congrats on the sidewinder acquisition! (and I'll keep my clunky 6a for salt water beach use ... heck, it's more than paid for!!!)

Just hvy by comparison! Love em on wet salt sand! and deeeeeeppppppp mini's!! Not to mention the foil/nickle bounce that usually means an OLD nickle!
