well to start out i went hunting last week and found a coca cola watch fob in the shape of a swastika.when i scraped the dirt off and saw coca cola i got pretty excited about it (still am).then i found a little oval shaped whatzit that said armour simon pure leaf lard on a little kettle. on the back it has a baker running down the street.well it came out of the ground looking gold colored in great shape.wiped the dirt off looked almost new just a few light scratches on it.threw it in my bag and forgot about til i was trying to research the coca cola watch fob.decided to see what i could find out about it on the web.found out they made this product in the early 1900-1920's.went hunting last night with some of my buddies and showed it to them.they said wow thats heavy like gold hmm.so i went and had it checked this morning and it is real gold 13.4 grams worth.looks like its a better find than the fob

How was it tested? What purity is the gold? I can't for the life of me think of why somebody would make something like this in gold. I did a few searches and came up empty. The weight is not close to that of any circulating US gold coin which I checked when I thought it might be a handmade curiosity. I suppose it could be coin gold and perhaps some was removed. A 10 dollar gold piece is almost 17 grams. Maybe it was a medal of some sort awarded as a prize for selling a ton of lard. A very odd find and a very lucky find. Nice going.

Here's a similar one. I bet it is from one of those coin flattening machines. Maybe some rich guy did stick a worn gold coin in one and make yours. If it tests to 22K gold it is a possibility. I bet with a little research you can figure this one out.

Finally. I found a TexMex store selling Armour Lard. Apparently they still make this stuff or somebody does under the name. Maybe you can contact them.
