Got the call yesterday, Dad was it chin to get out. Spring fever he tells me. He said it was warm enough... it was 24 degrees .... At he age of 80, I am starting to wonder about his decisions... He said lets get down to the beach fast, the surf has been pounding all night...... Glad I took him up on his crazy idea.....Arrived at noon and the water was down far enough to make a good pass. He went off in one direction, and I in another. First five signals all Wheaties, and old Wheaties at that, early teens, bang next 2 holes back to back V nickels. One was 1889 and the other was 1912... Then buzz buzz buzz pinpointed a beautiful 1943 Walking Liberty Half Dollar... OK pressure is off at this point. I turned to see if anyone was watching for some reason, sure enough, Dad is giving me the High five signal, with his ring finger.... I am excited at this time, we are both of to a great start..... A few more Wheaties in the pouch, and another silver signal ... Perfect...... out pops a Standing Liberty Quarter... no date. wow I love the Winter storms, they replenished the sands. One step away, and a low tone signal, and very deep... 16 inches to be exact, out pops a beautiful antique JADE Brooch... looks oriental, any guesses as to the age? I love it.. Dad is signaling again, with an Indian feather over his head... At the end of to days trip, I ended up with 3 Indian Head pennies, 3 V nickels, A silver quarter, a Silver Half, 2 musket balls, a 1907 tie slide, and a Jade brooch. Dad is still cleaning up his finds, will let you know what he found later on... HH Spring is just around the corner...
