Big Spider

A couple of weeks ago I was tearing down a combination playhouse/storage building and ran across this spider. Don't know what the scientific name is, we've always just called them field spiders. The woods and fields are full of them and a lot of them get in our houses when cool weather arrives. This is the biggest one I've ever seen, a tad over 5 inches across it's longest legs. Fully grown big ones are normally about 2/3's the size of this one.

I am glad that you had the chance to take his portrait. If I had taken it you would have only seen a grease spot <img src="/metal/html/help.gif" border=0 width=23 height=15 alt=":help"> . I keep a fly swatter with a LONG handle. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
