BIG SILVER for me...GREAT find for Dave-IL...and his 240 lb buttocks flyin' OFF a mechanical bull.:lmfao:

What a wonderful weekend I had...and I was due for some fun. Just seemes like all I have done the last 2 or 3 weeks is mow...mow again...and mow some more.:stars:

My own house...my girlfriends house...and 10 acres at Dad's keeps a feller' busy on the mower.

My lady and her daughter don't like the heat... so Dave-IL and I headed up to the Illinois State Fair for the day...and my baby was going to meet me there too.

We decided we would get some huntin' in...then head to the fair and pound a few corndogs..and 3 or 4 lemon shake-ups.:)

It was so freakin' hot that we decided we would only hunt for a couple hours in the evening...then head to the fair.

Well after 2 hours of absolutely ZERO high warbles...I finally got something that at least resembled one.:crylol:

It was a TERRIBLE signal from about 75% of the angles I tried it from...but from just one tiny little spot...it gave me a sweet chirping warble with the Sunray X-12 coil...and it screamed with a super high pitch.

If it would have been any other pitch...I would have walked...because it was just simply a hit that warbled in one spot only...and was short and intermittent when it did...but again...it was a short, yelping chirp that hinted silver on edge...or silver in iron....so I gave it a shot.

I had not dug a single coin yet..so I was begging. Sure I had passed up some shallow memorial hits...but this was the first deep hit I had thus far...and it hinted silver.

Well I dug down about 7" before the probe would sound...but it finally did. It sounded about 5" away from where I had pinpointed it at... and was off to the bottom side of the center of the hole.

I scraped away some dirt then ran the probe again where it was now saying it was.

The probe told me it was an inch or so deeper...so I carefully scraped away some more dirt with my fingers until I saw the glimmer of silver.:)

I then went to the car to get my camera...and started scraping away more dirt...until I saw this...

A BIG rim standing absolutely 100% straight on edge.

I then stuck the digger way underneath the area and pried upwards...and this big critter popped up from the rocky, dry dirt and plopped right at my feet.

I just started shaking...then took a couple of pics after picking it up so you could see it exactly as it came from the hard turf.

Everything else is a blur:bouncy:....and I don't even remember Dave taking this picture of me holding it:rolleyes:...but it was on my camera when I uploaded pics...so here ya' go.

Now I knew why I hadn't dug any wheaties or silver dimes. Heck if this big critter was at 8" on edge...then the silver dimes and wheats were probably at least 10"+ deep and close to being out of reach in the hard, dry soil.

I'm glad Dave was there to share it with me...and he was just as thrilled as I was...which meant a lot to me.

Dave made a SWEET find too...but I'll let him tell you about it in his own post....because he AGAIN refused to leave until he found something...and it was WELL after dark when he did.:clapping:
He'll stop by this evening and post from my house because his computer is very slow and sometimes won't upload pics.

We then headed to the fair and met up with my daughter...where Dave took a pic for us.

Dave and I decided we needed to hammer 3 corndogs each...some french fries...and a few lemon shake-ups.

After refuling on such healthy food:cool:...we wandered by the horse coliseum area.

It was there that we came upon the mechanical bull out front:biggrin:...and Dave was feeling cocky.:smoke: UH-OH....I smell trouble in the making.

He suddenly had the stupid:rolleyes:...err I mean GREAT idea:thumbup:...that he could conquer it.

Fellers' I am at a loss for words when trying to explain what I saw next...and how hard I laughed....so I won't even try.:)

Let's just say it like this...A 240 lb weight lifting/metal detectorist all tanked up on corndogs and lemonaide:cool:...and a mechanical bull:)... spell nothing but trouble:rolleyes:....plain and simple.

My short and to the point captions by Dave's pictures say it all...:wiggle:

Dave ON bull :)

He was in MUCH pain afterwards...but felt a little better after slapping high fives with 2 or 3 drunked up rednecks who were there cheering him on:rofl:

It took us 30 minutes just to walk to the car:rofl:....and he then moaned and groaned all the way home:clapping:...a nearly 2 hour ride.

Making some finds...cool.:)

Hunting with a good friend...awesome.

To see said friend being flipped in the air...somersaulting...and being tossed on his buttocks by a mechanical bull...PRICELESS.:bouncy: :clapping:

Too funny!

What kind of site held the half? Looks like there was lots of open ground to cover to find it. That's a challenge all by itself.

That would have been real funny to see Dave in person flying off of the mechanical bull! :heh:

Glad you had a great weekend, Bryce! Congrats on your big silver too!! :super: Awesome!!

Take care,

Thanks D.F. ...it was an old park area which had a good sized field on it...probably used for soccer or something.
