Big Silver Find

Detecting in a school yard the other night and dug up the usual junk. Seems to be lots of bottle caps (rusted) and I found that means more older coins.

After dumping the junk and cleaning the clad, I found the foreign coin, token, and two more junk rings. Total sum of coinage was $10.74.

Here's a closeup of the rings and foreign coin and token.

As I was using the Ace 250, it was really bell toning on what I thought was a buried pop can. I kind of thought I'll check it anyways. Using the coin mode said 3 inches deep. It seemed fairly easy digging as I took out the last of the soil. Not a big washer I thought, brushing the soil off, (nitro moment) was this mint looking 1965 silver dollar.

Probably some kid took it to school for show and tell only to lose it. (Parent coin collection?)

I decided to clean it in the silver cleaner liquid.

This is what it looked like after some cleaning.

Thanks for looking,

Great find and a very nice looking coin. I liked they way it looked before cleaning. Cool toning. Sure hope I find a silver dollar some day.
