Went back to the scene of the little silver coin spill this evening. Was'nt finding much .. not even a wheatie today. But this beauty presented itself to me on one of my last holes of the day. It is a (heavy) Future Farmers of America sterling silver ring. Have no idea how old it is . . still researching it. Enjoy !

Nice big chunk of silver there you got Dave. :clapping:

Future Farmers of America was founded in 1928.
The Ring is probably produced by Balfour.
There is one like it on that big auction site and they are asking like $125. or so.

Thanks. I saw the ones selling at FeePay. They are not as worn as mine is but I was still impressed by what they were selling for.

Nice chunkiness, congrats Dave!

Great find Dave, probably worth more as a collectable than scrap weight. I bet that sounded sweet. JJ

Holy ring, Dave! That's a big ol' chunk of silver! Great job! Bet that sucker blew your headphones off... :)

Actually, it was a bit of a shaky signal due to the way it was laying in the ground, and because it was about 7 inches down. Was not expecting to find a big silver ring lets put it that way.

Well, the soil was bone-dry ... and there may have been another junk target in the hole that I left there. I don't know. I was too stoked to notice I guess .. ... I also noticed that I have a bad habit of not making a mental note of what type of signal it is before I dig something potentially good. My best recollection was that the numbers were 00-24 to 00-27 , but would bounce to higher numbers on the ferrous side. And was scratchy at the end of the swing. Glad I decided to check it out anyways ..

Yeah, happens to me sometimes too, Dave. I get so curious about the target sometimes, I forget to concentrate on how it reads/sounds, and just start digging! I did that on the last half I dug...it wasn't a "good enough" signal to where I thought I was digging something that special, but once I had the half in my hand, I remember thinking to myself "Wait, how did that thing sound? How did it ID before I dug it???" (I guess this is the same reason I often forget to snap a picture of the find while still in the dirt plug -- once I see the silver rim, I'm too eager to see what it is, and I forget to pause, and take a pic! :) )

VERY NICE Dave!! That silver FFA ring looked
heavy in your hand before you put it on the scales.
Congratulations. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:
