big coil/ small coil

I use the 5.3 Eclipse or the 6X10 DD. You could also use the 4X6 Eclipse DD. I have a 10" round Excel DD but have not used it at the Claim yet so don't know about it yet. Mostly I use my PI's, the hot rocks will drive you crazy.
Good Luck

Hi Djc57, There's a lot of information on difference coils in the past posts. Do a search and you'll find a LOT of wonderful posts and criteria of hunting types for what coil to use, etc. HH, Nancy

I tested the 10 inch dd in NV and found out that the 6x10dd was superior. You do not have to worry about hot rocks or mineralized ground with the MXT. It has a variable SAT with a HyperSat position. Turn the Sat all the way up and you will be in hypersat. That is the position for nugget hunting in mineralized ground and turn the gain up as high as possible. I usually use a 9 setting. You will find small nuggets that the PI detectors cannot find. It is a fantastic nugget shooter and I got 2 nuggets to a pro prospector's 1 with a ML4500. The PIs have a hard time seeing small nuggets in shallow soil....3 to 6 inches. Remember that the pinpoiting does not work in Prospecting Mode. That is used by the Mode for deeper depth. The advantage that PIs have is greater depth on bigger targets (bigger nuggets). :twodetecting: Happy hunting
