I wrote awhile back about a trip to Battleship Cove in Fall River Massachusetts. Been over a year or so, was getting bored, so decided to take a couple of the grandkids there today. We had a blast! Where else can you visit, and have the freedom to roam around on,and below decks with a Battleship, Destroyer, Russian Destroyer, and a Submarine, and see two fully restored PT Boats? [attachment 112110 DSC06362.jpg]Even had lunch on the Battleship Massachusetts. The kids loved it, it's just too bad they don't understand about Pearl Harbor day, (which is tomorrow by the way) or about WWII , and what these vessels were needed for! Someday they will.. Inside there is a veterans Memorial for the thousands who lost their lives. There are 13000 names hanging on the walls in one of the decks. Here is on e of the props off the Big Mame, (her nickname).[attachment 112109 DSC06364.jpg] How is this for size! and she was telling me that she will never forget today. She was in the hospital having my brother Gary, well she had already had him a couple days earlier. My aunt had come to pick her up and take her home as my dad was out of town, he was a long distance truck driver at the time.

My aunt came in the room and told her that Pearl Harbor had been bombed and war had been declared. As she told me this she said something went cold in her stomach just as it did that day so long ago. She said she could not believe it and to this day it had the same effect on her when she thought of that day.

I think it is neat how you folks have so much sea things to see up there where you live. You made mention of a Russian Destroyer, did you take a picture of it? If so, would you post it? Your sea stories are fascinating to me and I have always enjoyed them...thanks for sharing. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

remember Dec 7th besides the obvious. I was born 3 days later on Dec 10, 1941. Later in life I got married to my wife Jane on Dec 7 in Vegas at the Imperial Palace. Figured it would help me remember the date in later years.... And today we will be going to Foxwoods Casino for dinner and a show later in the evening. My buddy Larry up the street was there later when they dropped the bomb and went in 3 days later.... He has a lot of stories of it. But the main reason I remember is for all those who took the hit that day and all those that broke them of that habit... Not a lot of Jap Zeros flying around these days. There is one in these pictures.

These pictures tell it all......
